Why do auto centers these days only want to replace the entire part? My car’s electronic parking switch hasn’t been working for a while.
I went to an auto center and told them the symptoms. The mechanic tried changing the OBD and pressing the switch a few times and said,
“This seems to be a PB module failure, but it’ll probably cost about 500,000 won to replace it.
“ I said, “Is there a possibility that the switch is defective? When I park with the auto hold on, I hear a motor-like noise. If that’s true, I think the switch is defective.”Auto hold
The mechanic listened to me, sat in the car, pressed the button several times,
parked, and said that the sound was not from the motor, but from the other side. He said that the EPB module was broken.
I was worried, so I left the service center and stopped by a nearby auto parts store to buy a switch.
I thought that I would lose money before spending a lot of money, so I decided to try replacing the switch myself.
When I arrived at the parking lot, I searched the Internet to find out how to replace the switch, and after replacing the switch in 20 minutes,
I tested it and it worked normally. ㅡㅡ::
These days, even if you listen to the internet or stories around you,
it seems that repair shops, unlike in the past, do not find the cause when something is wrong,
but rather just replace the suspicious part. Furthermore, there are many cases where the cause cannot be found without an OBD.
I think that the repair industry needs a change,
whether it is because cars have a lot of electronic equipment these days or because the skills of mechanics are declining and they have no will. What do you think?
