Koreans really like cold food. They say cold water is so bad, so why do they like it so much?
In our country, we started eating frozen yogurt with the baby, and put ice in noodles, and even in winter, we go to Sulbing to eat shaved ice, and even if we freeze to death,
we drink iced Americano. We are a country that is serious about cold food.
Even foreign countries that used to hate iced Americano are now starting to drink it, calling it K-culture. It is said that Koreans drink an average of 353 cups of coffee a year,
which is twice the global average, and 76% of them drink cold coffee. Even in January, when the cold is at its peak, more than 50% drink iced coffee.
After seeing this, foreign media introduced iced Americano as our country’s unofficial national drink, using words like “eoljuk-ah” and “a-ah.” At this point,
it seems like it should be called Koreano, not Americano. Eoljuk-ah was our country’s unique coffee culture
In recent years, as the consumption of cold drinks has begun to increase among young people overseas, the American media has been reporting news such as,
“It’s iced coffee season all year round.” and “Americans are obsessed with iced coffee.” 45% of young people in their 20s who enjoy drinking coffee drink iced coffee every day,
and Starbucks’ cold drink sales account for 75%, a whopping double that of 10 years ago. It seems like the cause of our country’s culture of being cold is the culture of being fast,
fast, but isn’t it actually because we’re angry at the state of our country these days?
